This EP came out about 2 years after the debut album. I'll upload that one soon. The plan was to release an EP every month for a year. I released two.
I managed to find one review online from High Voltage -
Lonesome Jonesome - Laughing EP (3/5)
Listen once, and it’s difficult to believe that Lonesome Jonesome’s world weary blues is the work of such a young boy, also known as Chris Jones. Listen again, and you can’t help but find faith in his prodigal talent.
The Laughing EP is indebted to an impossibly broad diversity of influences. Here and there, traces of The Coral’s freaky sea shanties, Eels mysterious blues and Willy Mason’s kooky stateside folk can all be heard. Nonsensical lyrics such as “kangaroos block my view / holy shit I don’t know what to do” detract somewhat from the undeniable musical quality of tracks such as ‘Better Better Better’.
But with just the sound of a skillfully finger picked acoustic guitar and some weird SFX, Lonesome Jonesome creates intense atmospheres such as those of the spookily sublime ‘Harbour and The Star’. He should also be commended for summoning the bravery and conviction to organise a truly independent, self financed release for such stubbornly un-commercial music.'
